Many facets of the Lamoni community are represented in the Lamoni Development corporation through the membership of the Board of Directors which meets monthly. The LDC members at the annual meeting elect twelve directors from the general membership. In addition, five community leaders serve as ex-officio members. These five are the Mayor of Lamoni, the Manager of the Lamoni Utilities, the Superintendent of Schools, the President of the Lamoni Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) and the Editor of the Lamoni Chronicle. Although not a director, the Executive Director of the Decatur County Development Corporation (DCDC) attends regularly and reports at all director meetings. All LDC members are invited to attend board meetings to receive status reports and updates on current LDC projects. By doing so, there is opportunity for members to share their points of view with community leaders.
The Lamoni Development Corporation strives to determine where Lamoni is at the current time, where Lamoni wants to be, and what Lamoni has to do to get there. It does this in the following manner:
… ESTABLISHES GOALS AND OBJECTIVES IN ALLIGNMENT with Lamoni’s long range plan and assigns committees to determine the vital steps, funding resources, and time frames for continued accomplishment to remain a strong and thriving community.
… LOOKS TO THE FUTURE with a bright and optimistic attitude to sustain economic development efforts in collaboration with local government and businesses.
… SEEKS OUT EXPANSION DOLLARS available to Lamoni for economic development and business improvements.
… ENCOURAGES AN ENVIRONMENT within Lamoni where new ideas and brainstorming are part of the daily conversation.
