Lamoni is also home of Graceland University, a four year Liberal Arts University founded in 1895. Graceland University brings superb cultural and athletic events, quest lectures, and musical performances to the area.
Graceland University, sponsored by the Community of Christ Church, offers 60 academic programs at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. A second campus is located in Independence, Missouri.
Originally a two-year school, Graceland was the first in the state of Iowa to hold accreditation as a junior college. It later was expanded to a four-year degree institution. The current enrollment on the Lamoni campus is about 1,000. There are about 2,000 enrolled at the Independence campus in Graceland's unique Outreach Nursing Program. Additionally, degree completion programs are offered in Centerville and Des Moines, Iowa and in Trenton, Missouri.
