LAMONI SAFE COALITION The Lamoni SAFE Coalition initiates and develops strategies to make Lamoni a safe and healthy community by bringing together churches, schools, government and non-government agencies, business organizations, and interested citizens to promote: 1. a Community Youth Center; 2. a Neighborhood Plan to help neighbors get to know neighbors; 3. use by the churches, schools and others of the Forty Developmental Assets as a guide to youth development; 4. reduction of crime, violence and drug abuse; 5. the incorporation of “America’s Promise” to its young people. This includes five basic promises to children and youth: 1) caring adults in their lives; 2) safe places in which to learn and grow; 3) a healthy start and a healthy future; 4) an effective education to equip them with marketable skills; 5) an opportunity to give back to the community through their own service. LAMONI FINANCIAL SUPPORT COALITION Origin -- Several community members initiated the Lamoni Financial Support Coalition in response to concern for persons and families struggling financially in the community.
Membership -- Members represent community churches, the food pantry, business owners, financial officers, counselors, doctors, nurses, school teachers, farmers, and and community residents.
Purpose -- The purpose of the coalition is to build relationships with the poor, displaced, mistreated in our community with the hope that, together, we can become vibrant and productive.
The Coalition invites municipal leaders, churches, organizations/clubs, families and individuals to be part of the solution. You can become a member of the Lamoni Financial Support Coalition by contacting -- *Lorrie Long 442-5160 *Marjie Foster 641-745-7707 *Ben Yarrington 784-3611
